As mentioned before, this is a classic injection-molded kit produced using high-pressure molding technology.
Despite the seemingly simple nature of the original aircraft, the model proved quite challenging to develop because of its panoramic glazing. The real Su-31 features nine transparent elements — and all nine are faithfully reproduced in the kit. Through these numerous clear panels, the cockpit interior can be seen in excellent detail.
For this reason, the model includes a highly detailed internal fuselage framework and control systems. To achieve even greater realism, modern technology comes into play in the form of 3D decals. As can be seen in the attached instruction pages, the 3D decals developed for the kit take into account the specific features of each individual aircraft version.
Keeping the canopy clean and crystal clear is made easier thanks to the excellent paint mask set included in the box.
Another important addition included in the kit, produced using a more traditional technology, is photo-etched parts. Due to their scale thickness, the photo-etched components reproduce delicate structural details of the original aircraft with greater realism, such as the struts and small “scoops” of the external aerodynamic compensators on the ailerons, control horns and linkage arms of the control surfaces, the horizon marker “protractors” on the wing tips, tie-down rings on the wing panels, and much more.
These elements are an essential part of the appearance of this striking aerobatic aircraft, and without them the model would not look complete.
